One of the first Indian restaurants to open in Tokyo, Ajanta is still going strong after 45 years. It is located right next to the Nihon Television complex and directly opposite Kojimachi subway and is open 24 hours a day throughout the year, so it is a good place to come if you want to hobnob with Japanese television personalities. An even better reason for coming here, though, is the food, which is first class although not cheap. As well as a good selection of curries, tandoori dishes and South Indian specialties, there are six course sets, including three vegetarian sets that range in price from JPY5,000 to JPY7,000. The decoration is exquisite as is the aroma of spices that you notice as soon as you walk through the door. For those who prefer the car to public transport, Ajanta has free parking for three cars.
