This deluxe inn is located in the quiet hot-spring resort of Iwai on the Gamo River. Iwai Onsen is famous for a special bathing melody sung by locals. A good performance of the song is said to entice the spirits of the spring into bestowing wondrous cures. Akashiya offers guests a choice of Western or Japanese-style rooms. Separate indoor baths for men and women are lovely ceramic tubs. Outside, a communal bath overlooks the river. The water is classified as calcium sulfate and sodium chloride and is great for relief of stress and nervous disorders.
