An evening in Jidai-ya is a wonderful experience. It is like stepping back in time to rural Japan. The first thing that will strike you as you step through the door is the warmth and sincerity of the welcome, which is matched by the rustic decor and the excellent food. Jidai-ya uses only the very best ingredients. Market-fresh fish and meat cuts and seasonal vegetables are blended into mouth-watering, traditional dishes. Even the tableware is appealing. All dishes are served on earthy ceramics or delicate lacquer bowls. Lunch sets start at JPY900 and include a main dish, soba, salad, pickles plus tea or coffee.
Dinner courses range from Y3,000-Y6,000 and consist of a variety of traditional Japanese dishes including raw fish, seafood and grilled meat. For those who like to put together their own courses, there is a huge selection of a la carte choices available.
