At this old favorite, right in the middle of modern Shinjuku, friendly matrons in kimonos serve kyoudou ryori (local cuisine) comprised of local specialties. Try a la carte or one of their "furusato"(hometown) courses which run from JPY6,000 to JPY10,000. Courses are seasonal and include a variety of meat and seafood including eel and wild chicken. Japanese food fans would love this place for its novelty alone, not to mention the wonderful service and the wide array of tastes available.
