After a game of bowling, or baseball, the players often sit around the grill of their local okonomiyaki-ya for a beer and a bite. Okonomiyaki, which means roughly "what you like fried," is vegetables, meat, or fish mixed in batter and then grilled into pancakes which are eaten right off the hot plate. It is often covered with sauce or mayonnaise depending on the preference of the customer and followed up by yakisoba. Mariya provides that perfect okonomiyaki experience, set in an old izakaya with tatami floors. Get there early however because last orders are at 9pm.
