Ofuro, located in the Shimo-takaido area of Tokyo, is one of the typical Japanese 'izakayas' serving authentic fare. Ofuro actually refers to the relaxing hot water baths that traditional Japanese homes might still have. Although, this Ofuro is definitely a restaurant and not the bath, the experience is quite the same - it leaves you feeling content and relaxed. The staff obviously speaks very little or no English and the place itself is not easily accessible, so getting there would not be as easy as expected. But once you do, try the Japanese version of corn fritter and gulp down some Sancerre that is one among a host of wines offered here.
