This traditional wooden inn has tearooms, a lovely garden, and a hanging lantern to welcome guests. The Japanese-style guestrooms are elegantly simple. There are separate men's and women's hot-spring bathing facilities. Indoors are large pools with views of the Misasa River, cold baths and saunas. Outside, overlooking the river, are two boulder-strewn open-air baths. The water is classified as radioactive, containing the most radium of any hot spring in the world, but quite safe. The water is considered wonderful for the treatment of hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure, neuralgia, rheumatism and chronic skin diseases.
