Taiseikan sits on a cliff, accessible by cable car from the Miyanoshita resort area. The inn's Japanese-style open-air baths are more than 500 years old. The hotel proudly displays a beautiful Ukiyoe woodblock of Dogashima Onsen that is over 150 years old.
The hotel has rock-encircled pools in the river, separated from the current by heavy stones. There are a rock-lined pools for both men and women only. In total Taiseikan boasts 28 baths, indoor and outdoor. The water is weak sodium chloride, recommended for women's disorders, stomach ailments and nervous tension
