Totoya is a typical Japanese izakaya, or traditional drinking establishment. The waiters are dressed in traditional costume, complete with headbands, screaming out your order to the bar staff and creating quite a lively atmosphere. There are various courses but ordering a la carte is much more fun. AnGrilled meats and vegetables on a skewer cost between JPY90 and JPY150 for two skewers. There are many options, including all parts of the chicken, asparagus, eggplant, shiitake mushrooms and onion. A very large mug of beer costs JPY680, sake goes for between JPY590 and JPY730 a flask and shochu cocktails, or the Japanese equivalent of vodka, start at JPY380.
